The tablet that almost wasn’t is the Joojoo, as this is the reloaded Crunchpad, that got embroiled in some legal dispute. In the end, whatever it is called, this device will reportedly be shipping by the end of the month.
In contrast to the Apple iPad, the device has a larger 12″ screen. It can also play 720p video, and has native Flash support. The Joojoo will be selling for $499, and that is the only price point currently. No word on the processor, or storage capacity.
My only disappointment so far is the connectivity, which is limited to WiFi. I hope that a cellphone carrier would add this device to their 3G offerings, and give it a reasonable $30 a month data plan, like the iPad. Hey, Verizon, Sprint and Tmobile can’t all be thrilled about AT&T getting the iPad, and still having an exclusive on the iPhone, so the time may be ripe for such a thing. Besides, they can probably handle the data better anyway as their network is not so overloaded.
In the meantime, the Joojoo is more of a coffee table device.
