A few years back, Verizon ran fiber right past my house. With that, the old copper phone lines, that I also used for DSL were oh so yesteryear. Since then, Verizon sends me a weekly invitation to subscribe to Fios. The latest one offers a Compaq Mini Netbook. It is redeemable via a coupon after the installation, and the customer is responsible for shipping and handling.
At least the prizes for new subscribers are getting better. Now if they only deliver them in a timely fashion, perhaps one day I’ll trade in my current connection for the goodness of fiber to the home.
