So long, we hardly knew you, however Dell has official retired the Inspiron Mini 9 netbook. Instead, Dell will be focusing on the slightly larger 10-inch netbooks, of which they have recently launched the Mini 10v. Ultimately, it looks like anyone who was still holding out hopes of grabbing a Mini 9 will need to start looking on eBay, Craigslist or some other used source.
Overall, the Mini 9 had a short life span having been originally launched in September 2008. While the Mini 9 is sure to be missed by some, mostly due to the fact that it was easy to mod, as well as being one of the better netbooks to turn into a Hackintosh. Of course, those same users can always grab the slightly larger Mini 10 or Mini 10v.
Having used numerous netbooks in the past, I can say with confidence that a 10-inch display is a sweet spot. Personally I would say that if you intend to do anything more than very basic email and Internet use than the 7- and 8.9-inch displays are a little on the small side.
