Despite the fact that the Dell Mini 9 has since officially been killed off by Dell, that does not appear to have stopped the enthusiast crowd behind it. In this case we have yet another Dell Mini 9 netbook that is receiving some attention thanks to an interesting mod.
The latest, with the work being completed by MyDellMini user Rich2871, is a built-in fingerprint scanner. It seems that an external USB fingerprint reader was taken apart, gutted and then installed in his Mini 9. Cool stuff, the installation process was pretty interesting, not to mention how it was also very nicely documented with plenty of images.
That said, this user is not planning to stop with the fingerprint scanner, in the same forum post he also mentioned that he was planning to install Mac OS X. Unfortunately, he seems to have passed on installing a built-in GPS, claiming that it was “not worth the hassle.”
