The Lenovo IdeaPad S10e is specifically marketed towards the education market. After all, a netbook is just perfect to put in a student’s backpack. In the meantime it features a 6 cell battery to go all day, and the Quick Start OS to get underway without delay. It retails for $429.
The folks at Laptop Mag took it for a test spin. They liked the 2.8 pound weight. IBM ThinkPads were generally known for their keyboards, and Lenovo carries that tradition on. The keyboard has minimal flex, and their main quibble was a shrunked right shift key. The S10e was specced out fairly standard for a netbook with the Intel Atom N270 processor and 1 gig of RAM which performed as expected for this class. They conclude that the S10e was a compelling choice, and liked the instant on OS that can be up and running in a mere 10 seconds (compared to just under a minute for Windows XP).
