The success of Dell has always been built around choices. Want a faster processor? Just configure it that way. Some overpriced extra RAM? No problem, just click over here. You get the idea, and millions have bought computers from the online PC building giant.
The world of netbooks has not offered such a level of choice. Viewed more as appliances than as PC’s in some circles, that level of choice has not been available with limited options in most cases. However, Acer is looking to expand that pallette.
As they transition to a 10″ LCD for the Acer Aspire One, the options are coming. One choice will allow to go with either the larger hard drive, or a faster and more stable SSD (flash based). Although enthusiasts may be less than enthralled at the 16 GB choice, it is better to at least have the option. Similarly, those that are bored with the venerable Windows XP, and not willing to wait for Windows 7 have the choice of Linux in the Linpus flavor.
